To root out the drugs issue from the state, Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) will take necessary steps against drug lords, MLA Kh Joykisan announced on Thursday.

Joykisan was speaking to the media during the launching of the annual calendar of TAKDO under the theme ‘Fight against Drug Law’ at his residence at Thangmeiband, Imphal. He said many people, including youths have fallen victim to the drugs menace. If the people fail to root out the drugs issue from the state now, then the state will be completely engulfed by drugs in the next few years, Joykisan said.

TAKDO will start taking necessary steps against all kinds of drugs dealers irrespective of their status, he added.

Concerning the issues on budgets for the Public Works Department (PWD), Joykisan said the state government should give assurance when the pending amounts for contractors are to be delivered.

He said the Works minster has failed to deliver his assurance made on the floor of the House to sanction the amounts for the renovation of some roads in Thangmeiband assembly constituency.

Joykisan said the failure to fulfill an assurance made on the floor of the House is violation of the dignity of the House. He further said with the coming of COVID second wave, the country has started facing its impacts even in Manipur also.

The people need to take initiatives by following the guidelines to prevent COVID-19 without waiting for the initiatives from the state government, Joykisan said.
