Students take pledge against drugs, tobacco in Churachandpur

Hundreds of students pledge against indulging in tobacco and other intoxicants during a campaign programme held at Salt Brook School, Tuibong in Churachandpur district.

A pledge campaign on ‘Drug Free, Progressive Society’ was held at Salt Brook School, Tuibong in Churachandpur district in the presence of the principal of the school Vanlallien Haokip on Thursday.

The programme was organised by HEGreen Foundation Trust as a part of their second HFT Pledge campaign programme with the motto of ‘Drug Free, Progressive Society’.

During the programme, students of class VIII, IX and X pledged that they will not indulge in tobacco and other intoxicants. The programme was also attended by additional SP Hasby Haokip.

On the occasion, HFT chairman Hegin Tungdim spoke on the topic ‘Choose an intoxicants-free life’. He mentioned the dangerous consequences of intoxication and urged the students to steer clear of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products.

Additional SP (IUCAW) Churachandpur spoke on the topic ‘Substance Abuse and its Legal issues’, followed by the introductory video of HEGreen Foundation Trust. HFT secretary Thangbiakmuan also spoke on the topic ‘Is God okay with Drugs?’, after which clinical counselor Lianbenson Khuptong conducted a discourse on the ‘Importance of Counselling’ with the student.
