Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday said that a strong and reliable government formed solely by BJP is coming shortly after the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election to be held early next year.

He was speaking at the one-day political conference organised by BJP Wangkhem Mandal at Wangkhem playground as the chief guest.

At the event attended by 39 different polling stations of Wangkhem assembly constituency, Biren further said that 20-30 years earlier, the people of the state lived under utter fear and paranoia; women and children could not live peacefully and there was sounds of the womenfolk ringing on the electric poles with the constant worry of whether their sons and husbands would be taken away or get assaulted by security personnel. However, these are things of the past, he said.

This is the gift provided to the people by the BJP in its four-years-and-eight-months rule, he said. The relationship between the people and the government as well as the police has been improved. A government is supposed to work for the welfare of the general public and work for a harmonious existence, he added.

“We are working as the people’s representative because we want to fill in what is required for the people. Please do not elect those MLAs who do not want to move out from the quarters, do not listen to the grievances of the public and are busy in purchasing lands at Imphal,” he said.

He further said, all the bandhs and blockades which were rampant at one time are not there with the arrival or BJP government in the state. Spending nights outside just to get a litre of petrol and all the struggles to get cooking gas, electricity and water have all been removed in the past four years and eight months. The government has been working for the welfare of the people, he said.

He continued that challenges still existed in delivering the schemes and programmes directly to the general public. Therefore, Go to Village and Go to hills campaigns were introduced to meet these requirements. “Real progress and development can be achieved only when these targets are fulfilled,” he added.

For delivering health benefits, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat by PM Modi and Rs 2 lakh under CMHT by the state government is being introduced, he said.

On top of that, ‘CM’s health for all’ scheme has also been introduced to provide door- to-door medical screening for all walks of life.

It was not an easy task to provide vaccine doses to more than a 100 million people in the country, he further said, adding the vaccination was a huge gift to the people.

Appealing to all to move forward towards progress, he urged the public to elect BJP candidates.

The event was attended by BJP Manipur pradesh president A Sharda Devi, Education Minister S Rajen, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency MLA P Brojen and BJP intending candidates of Wangkhem assembly constituency.
