Stop playing ethnic based politics: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren

Manipur is heading on the path of development but vested interest groups indulging in ideas of separatism is slowing the developmental pace, CM Biren said on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2022.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh called upon the people of the state to stop playing ethnic based politics and instead cooperate with each other for a better and developed Manipur. He said that Manipur is heading on the path of development but vested interest groups indulging in ideas of separatism is slowing the developmental pace.

The chief minister was speaking during the occasion of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’, National Unity Day 2022, held at 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground on Monday. He said Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed since 2014 every year on October 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

Every citizen of the country should know the importance of the observance, he said, adding, "As Indians we all should take such national observations with all seriousness".

"We have been able to live a life with dignity and honour, only because of being citizens of India and born in the State of Manipur. As such we should have the highest honour for our country and birthplace."

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is revered across the world as a world leader because of the respect he and his works are shown by the people of the country, the chief minister said.

Biren also spoke about the huge amount of illegal drug trafficking to the country from neighbouring countries. "Many foreign countries are trying to destabilize the peaceful condition of our country".

Biren also emphasized that Central leaders are taking the issues of states very seriously, as any problems related to security and other reasons affect the whole country.

He maintained that the ways of tackling and solving issues related to Northeastern states had changed as the Central leaders think for the welfare of its people.

The chief minister appreciated the Union Home Minister’s approach to UG groups asking them to come back to the mainstream.

Biren inspected the Parade and administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge for all attending the function. The Parade led by Parade Commander Dy CO 2nd MR N. Suraj Singh was participated by contingents of BSF, CRPF, Combined Manipur Rifles Male, Combined IRB Male, Civil Police Imphal West Male, Civil Police Imphal East Male, 9th IRB Mahila, NCC Boys and NCC Girls.

MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, ministers, MLAs, chairman of Boards and Corporations, chief Secretary, director general of Police, Civil and Police officers, among others attended the function.
