‘Stop issuing threats for monetary demands’

"Muslim communities in Manipur urged to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr only for ritual."

President of United Hatta Golapati Council, Md Abdul Malik on Thursday cautioned that those threatening the people for monetary demands from Hatta residents without the consent of local bodies of Hatta Golapati area must stop.

Malik told the media at the head office of Manipur Hatta Golapati Athletic Union (MHGAU) Hatta Golapati, Imphal East that most of the people of Manipur are suffering irrespective of caste, creed and communities since May 3, 2023.

However, some groups or organisations are demanding money from the residents of Hatta Golapati area in the name of assistance without even identifying themselves. From various residents of the area, those groups or organisations are demanding monetary assistance from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.

They should stop such activities as unwanted incidents may occur, and they should take sole responsibility, he warned.

If any organisation wants monetary assistance from the people of Hatta Golapati area, then they should first contact the local clubs of the area, he said.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of joint local clubs of Hatta Golapati area, MHGAU, GESCDO, UMGDC, MHSWU, UHGC, GHYVO, MMLDO, UDO, and HMLSDO, Haji Arafat Ali said due to the ongoing crisis that has been continuing since May 3, 2023, the grand festivals of various communities were celebrated in a low-key manner only for rituals.

He appealed to the Muslim communities to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr only for ritual. He cautioned the people not to use intoxicants while celebrating the festival and appealed to celebrate peacefully.
