As part of its sustained welfare measures for internally displaced persons (IDPs) who are being sheltered at different relief camps due to the ongoing unrest in Manipur, the Churachandpur district administration in collaboration with an NGO, Bridging Ministries, launched Skill Training Programme for IDPs at M Songgel ECA compound relief centre on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the training programme, deputy commisssioner Dharun Kumar said the concern of the district administration is not only providing relief materials, but also skilling people and enabling them to get decent jobs for their livelihood.

He asked the IDPs to keep in touch with the district administration so that their needs are looked into by the officials concerned. He also called upon the cooperation of all concerns towards this end.

Speaking at the occasion, Thangboi Gangte, Additional DC, said that relevant vocational and technical skills need to be provided to the IDPs so as to enable them to find work, build their careers, and contribute productively to society.

Jangminlal Mate, coordinator of Bridging Ministries, said that they are involved in a mission to help out certain unprivileged individuals who need little attention to realise their dreams with their capacity and limited resources.
