Six student bodies of the state, namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS have appealed to the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) to call off their 12-hour total shutdown in public interest.
In a joint release, the six student organisations also urged ATSUM to carry on with their agitation without causing inconvenience to the public.

The release further mentioned that ATSUM should mount pressure on higher authorities to take up legal action against those who are against the rule.
The student bodies assured that they will also look into the matter to avoid “administrative defects” of RIMS.

It may be mentioned that ATSUM on Saturday reiterated its decision to impose a 12-hour total shutdown in all hill districts of Manipur on April 24 in protest against the failure of authorities in the RIMS recruitment process.
