Six NSUI members released on bail

Six members of the National Student's Union of India (NSUI) were arrested connection with obstruction of lawful duty officer.

Six members of the National Student's Union of India (NSUI) who were arrested by City PS in connection with obstruction of lawful duty officer, have been released on bail with PR bond of Rs 60,000 and one like surety amount of each on Wednesday.

Those six students are identified as Md Rafi, Chongtham Rajesh, Yengkhom Amitkumar, Sachin Takhellambam, Ningthoujam Mahanta and Md Arif.

They were arrested on October 14 and they were in police custody till October 18.

On Wednesday, after completion of police custody, they were produced with prayer for 14 days judicial custody by police for further investigation.

The court heard the submission of judicial custody and from accused defence council submissions.

After hearing the submission, the court released them on bail stating the students were not involved in the rally.

It may be mentioned that the six students were arrested with allegations of assaulting a police officer on duty in broad daylight while conducting ten political parties' rally on October 13.
