SHIPS founding president Paokhogin Kipgen no more, condolences pour in

Paokhogin Kipgen alias Pagin passed away on Monday evening at around 9:55 pm at his residence at Vengthah Ward no.3, Kangpokpi town.

Founding president of the Sadar Hills Private Schools' Association (SHIPS) Paokhogin Kipgen alias Pagin passed away on Monday evening at around 9:55 pm at his residence at Vengthah Ward no.3, Kangpokpi town. He was 49.

Born on April 11, 1972, at Kangpokpi Christian Hospital (Mission), Pagin became an influential and pre-eminent educationist in the district at a very young age. He was survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.

In 2007, under Pagin’s initiative, SHIPS was established to streamline the functioning and administration of private schools in the district and also to tackle the various issues faced by private schools in the district. He also served as principal of Diamond English High School at Kangpokpi town till he breathed his last.

The social media platform has been flooded with condolence messages since Monday evening from various student bodies, prominent leaders from various communities particularly from the education field, local bodies, near and dear ones from far and near.

Meanwhile, local MLA Nemcha Kipgen expressed shock and sadness over the untimely demise of Pagin and wrapped a traditional shawl Saipikhup over his mortal remains as a mark of tribute and adieu. Former minister and veteran Kuki politician, Thangminlen Kipgen also participated in the funeral ceremony held on Tuesday.

TSA Sadar Hills expressed condolence over his demise and took part in the funeral ceremony while the local bodies including Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation and Kangpokpi Youth Union participated in the funeral ceremony.

SHIPS leaders also paid the highest tribute to its founding president and wrapped a traditional shawl during his last rite while offering deepest condolence to the bereaved family.

Pagin’s friends with whom he had a close relationship for the development of Kangpokpi town especially in the education sector, who were known by the name GUDUP, paid their highest tribute and bid adieu with a traditional shawl.

Kangpokpi Independent Baptist Church pastor performed the funeral service at KIBC cemetery at Kangpokpi town.
