The JAC formed to get Justice for Sanaton Athokpam on Friday threatened to call a 24-hour statewide total shutdown in Manipur from 6 pm of April 26, if the state government failed to fulfil certain charter of demands as requested by the justice committee.
The charter of demands included registering an FIR in connection with the death of Sanaton, suspension of the RIMS director, dean (academics) and hostel warden, stated a release issued by Justice for Sanaton Athokpam. It also demanded that the warden must be interrogated.
It further mentioned to complete the magisterial inquiry immediately and furnish a report and related documents to the family members of late Sanaton and to the justice committee. The government should also find out all the culprits involved in the alleged murder of Sanaton, it added.
The justice committee also appealed to all the civil bodies, student bodies and public of both hills and valley to support and take part in the proposed shutdown and further support any agitations taken up by the committee in the future.
