Sajibu Cheiraoba greetings pour in

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba), which is Manipuri New Year’s Day.

In her message, she said that the new year is an occasion to rejoice and set new resolutions. It urged all to resolve that Cheiraoba will be a harbinger of peace and harmony in the state.

It noted that people of the state despite witnessing many incidents which could have broken the bond between different communities, have shown their maturity by maintaining equanimity and shunning the group violence.

"From this Sajibu Nongmapanba, let us strive together for a better Manipur, setting apart our differences and working for a common goal," it mentioned.

She appealed to all to rededicate themselves to strengthen bonds of friendship, so that all communities can live as brothers and sisters, notwithstanding differences in caste, creed, language and religion. She further called upon everyone to observe the day in its true spirit so that it ushers an era of peace and prosperity.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also extended wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, which falls on April 9.

In his wishes, he said that the festival marks the end of the previous year and the onset of a new year. He exhorted the people to renew the strong fraternal bond and unity among different communities and strive for bringing inclusive development in the State, while seeking prosperity and happiness for all.

He wished that the festival fills all with positivity and zeal to turn dreams into reality and efforts into achievements. He also urged all to dedicate themselves to taking Manipur to greater heights.

MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand also sent Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba greetings to the people of the State especially followers of Sanamahi religion.

He wished that the festival brings peace, joy and prosperity in the State and also promotes unity and harmony.

BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi also wished the people of the state on the occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba and urged everyone to reaffirm their commitment to preserving the cultural legacy and promoting inclusivity, understanding and mutual respect among all communities.

Sharda, in her message, said the festival marks the beginning of the Manipuri lunar calendar, symbolizing renewal, rejuvenation, and the spirit of unity and brings families and communities together to partake in traditional rituals, feasts and cultural festivities, reinforcing the rich cultural heritage of Manipur.

She called upon all to embrace the values of harmony, compassion, and solidarity as we embark on a new year filled with hope and promise. She further wished that the occasion brings joy, prosperity, and peace to every household in Manipur.

Meanwhile, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also greeted the people of the State on the joyous occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba.

MPCC President Keisham Meghachandra, in a message, urged the people to join in praying that the festival ushers in peace, progress and happiness and deepen the spirit of harmony and prosperity in the State. He further prayed that the occasion strengthens unity and brotherhood amongst all the communities in the state.
