Royal Riders Manipur all set for month-long environment campaign

The 12th Mahousa Ima Ningsing Tha (a month-long environment campaign) will be held from May 6 to June 5 under the theme of United Nation “Only one Earth”.

Royal Riders Manipur (RRM) are all set to launch a month-long environment campaign from May 6 with a target of planting as many as 300 tree saplings each in three different districts of Manipur.

Addressing media during a press conference at Manipur Press Club on Wednesday, president of RRM, RK Tombisana said that they are all prepared to organise one of their calendar programme, 12th Mahousa Ima Ningsing Tha (a month-long environment campaign) from May 6 to June 5 under the theme of United Nation “Only one Earth”.

During this month-long period various activities that carry the message about conservation of environment and its ecology will be held.

During the inaugural function, motorcycle rally would be carried out which will be flagged by Environment and Climate Change Minister Th Biswajit Singh at Hapta Kangjeibung at 10.30 am.

It will be followed by tree plantation at three different districts namely Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur, he added.

He informed that the programme of the second day of the campaign to be carried out on May 8 consist of tree plantation under the guidance of Range Officer in the Langol Range and preparation of trails for eco-trekking. Base camp where a painting competition for students under the theme of environment related issues will be held at RRM Office, Langol.

On May 14 and May 15, family camping and tree plantation at Lamdan will be held, eco-trekking at Langol Range (Punshi Lok) for students and base camp at RRM Office, Langol will be organised on May 22 and spot painting competition from class III to class IX will be held on May 29 as a part of the month-long campaign, he added.

He also informed that the closing function will be held on World Environment Day i.e., June 5 wherein a road show with celebrities, distribution of tree saplings to the masses and street meeting along with green concert are the main programmes of the function.

While appealing to youth of the state to attend the function, he said that environmental issues are a global phenomenon that needs contribution from every walk of life to conserve nature. RRM would extend possible effort as a responsible citizen for the sake of future generations. For this support and co-operation is much needed especially from youth of the state. 

It would be highly grateful if any interested person comes and joins the one-month long campaign, he added.
