As a measure to prevent further spread of COVID-19 in Kakching district, a team of local people sprayed the entire stretch of road where Kakching Model High School is located with disinfectant Sodium Hypochlorite on Tuesday.
The stretch is one of the areas in the district which have been worse affected by the pandemic with 11 COVID-19 patients at present in addition to the death of a person from the disease earlier.
There are also several people from the area with symptoms of infection who have not yet been tested, the team-led by Kaliyan Singh said, appealling the people to get tested so that they can be treated in time thereby preventing further deaths from the disease.
He also said due to the area having been declared a containment zone for quite a long time now and added with the lockdown imposed over the entire district, the residents are currently facing a serious issue of shortage of essential food items and potable water among others.
In view of the present situation, he urged the MLA of Kakching assembly constituency for relief measures and aid to ease the troubles faced by the residents of the area.
Sandham Kaliyan Singh is the son of Sandham Premila Devi who is the councillor of ward no-VII, Kakching Municipal Council.
