The All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association (AMRDPWA) has expressed dissatisfaction with the administration of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) over the treatment of one rickshaw driver.
Highlighting the several inconveniences faced during the treatment of one rickshaw driver on December 1, the association stated in a release that except for one wheelchair with a defunct wheel, there were no other wheelchairs and trolleys found when they tried to carry their fellow rickshaw driver for an MRI test.
The association also claimed that they had to physically carry the patient for the MRI test, but it was cancelled owing to his serious health conditions.
Since the MRI was not possible, a CT scan was conducted on Saturday, it stated. But the charge for MRI test which was cancelled was not refunded, it added.
The association further stated that when the members of the union approached the counter, they were suggested that the MRI charge amount can be refunded with the consent of the medical superintendent of the hospital. However, the medical superintendent was not to be found in his office when the association went for a consultation, the release stated.
The association also questioned why no individual has been given the charge to look after the wheelchairs and trolley and why a defunct wheelchair was still used in the hospital, it added.
