A new playground has been set up for the people of Khundrakpam in a bid to encourage sports among the budding talents of the constituency. The PJPC playground, located at Pukhao Khabam, Imphal East district, was inaugurated by Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshore on Monday.
During the inauguration, MLA Th Lokeshore unvieled the memorial stone erected near the playground in the presence of Dolaithabi zilla parisad member, N Sanatomba Meetei and Pradhan of Pukhao Gram Pamchayat Ch Inao.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokeshore said the PJPC playground was set up with the MLA local area development fund as a part of the plan to set up a playground in every locality of the assembly constituency.
Lokeshore said people and youths of the assembly constituency should utilise the playground in order to bring out good players who can compete not only for the state but at international level.
Appealing to the people to take care of the playground, the youths and players should also focus on education apart from sports, he said.
The function was organised by following strict standard operating procedure (SOPs) after taking the consent from the authority concerned, he added.
