RBI spreads awareness on banking facilities among entrepreneurs in Moreh

Presentations on the RBI initiatives on the MSME sector highlighting salient guidelines, regulation, incentives and other recent developments, status of MSMEs funding in Manipur were provided during a town hall meeting.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) organised a town hall meeting for existing and prospective Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) entrepreneurs at the conference hall of the Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh on Tuesday.

The meeting aims to create awareness of banking facilities among the entrepreneurs; to link them to the formal banking system and to create a platform for two-way communication among the stakeholders.

The meeting further meant to serve as a medium for resolving issues, facilitating credit linkage and dissemination of information/guidelines issued by RBI pertaining to MSME sector.

General manager OC, RBI Imphal Mary Guite; regional director, RBI Guwahati Sanjeev Singha;
SDC Moreh L Brojendra;  director, MSME Development Institute Th Baite; OSD, Commerce and Industries G Kamei; deputy general manager, Punjab National Bank Rajendra Singha Rathore; chairman Manipur Rural Bank Samarendra Samuel were present as the dignitaries of today’s programme.

The RBI officials explained the benefits and advantages and the potential of this sector in employment generation and contribution to the overall economic growth of the country.

AGM, RBI Imphal Achan Sharon made a presentation on MSME survey reports. Various issues on loan facility, lack of knowledge about MSME scheme, lack of relationship between Banks and entrepreneurs were highlighted in his speech.

Speaking on the importance of the MSME scheme, Th Baite said that entrepreneurs should be given awareness on various schemes taken up by the government.

In his speech, L Brojendra expressed that MSME schemes should facilitate the unemployed youths. Every loanee should have the habit of repaying loans so that both bank and entrepreneur can develop together.

 “Bank staff should be sincere in the selection of entrepreneurs for the loan to be sanctioned. Banks should organise financial literacy camps to give awareness on various schemes and give knowledge for banking,” he said.

Distribution of MSME loan sanction letters were also held as a part of the programme.

Entrepreneurs along with leaders from MCM, HTC, Tamil Sangam, ACODOM, Gorkha Samaj, MMCM, Border Trade and Chambers of Commerce were present in the meeting.
