To commemorate the National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector/ IGAR (East) on Sunday organised an oath taking ceremony followed by a unity run at Tamenglong and T waichong.
The event started from Jadonang Park in Tamenglong town. Rich floral tributes were paid to the Iron man of India. The event started with releasing of pigeons symbolic to peace and prosperity through unity.
The participants spreading the message of unity, peace and prosperity through community participation traversed through main market of the town.
The 5 km run finished with patriotic songs by the battalion’s jazz band. Similar run was participated by 40 students at T Waichong sub divisional headquarters.
As part of the event, a painting competition on the theme unity in diversity was organised by battalion in Dikiuram village under Tamei Sub-Division of Tamenglong district. It was taken part by approximately 50 students.
