Speaking to Imphal Free Press on the sidelines of the event, Achun Kamei said that the book Rani Gaidinliu Queen of Broken Hills, edited by Cainan Pamei, was published in remembrance of Rani Gaidinliu and her dreams of Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Inpui to live under one administration.

He narrated that during his tenure as her personal assistant, they met the Prime Minister of India and other dignitaries to press the government for her people - Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Inpui to integrate physically and emotionally.

Achun Kamei said the book mentions how the Zeliangrong people are miserably marginalised, about the indigenous people whose lands have been fragmented and placed in the three states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.

He said Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu mobilized their people, the Zeliangrong to stand up against the might of the British Empire and later, the Indian dominion in the fight to save their identity, religion and tradition.

The book also contains how Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu led the struggle against the British rule with a goal to unite the Zeliangrong people under a sovereign Naga nation.

The uprising was interrupted with the hanging of Jadonang, but the movement continued under the mantle of Rani Gaidinliu, he added.

He said that Rani Gaidinliu fought bravely and relentlessly against the British rule for more than a year. She was ultimately captured from Pulomi village of erstwhile Naga Hills-now in Peren District of Nagaland.
