Political parties must understand GTV before joining TV discussions: Manipur CM Biren

The chief minister launched the three-day Go to Village (GTV) 2.0 programme organised by District Administration Imphal East at Takhel in Lamlai assembly constituency.

Taking a jibe at political party representatives who claim to not know what ‘Go to Village’ is at discussion programmes, Chief Minister N Biren on Tuesday said that they should learn about Go to Village before joining such discussions as there are many activities held under the mission and plenty of booklets available on it.

The chief minister was speaking at the launching function of three-day Go to Village (GTV) 2.0 programme organised by District Administration Imphal East at Takhel in Lamlai assembly constituency.

"The anchor hosting these discussions at local TV channels needs to know the agenda ahead of holding such discussions. If required, they can take necessary documents or seek information from the state government so that the discussion can be properly carried out," he said.

Go to Village mission is an initiative to reach out to the citizens for delivering government services at their doorsteps, he said. Mentioning various welfare schemes of the government, he maintained that the government is committed to put smiles on people’s faces.

With the installation of the BJP-led government in the state, the law and order situation has been improved drastically, he added.

Pointing out that various stalls of different departments and banks have been opened at the Takhel Youth Welfare Organisation playground, he urged the people to take full advantage of such GTV initiative and get access to the benefits of certain schemes being introduced for the welfare of the people.

Biren mentioned that India is moving ahead with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’.

He said that a report published recently declared Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the World’s Most Admired Mass Leader. He further appreciated the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for developing indigenous COVID-19 vaccine within a short period of time. More than 100 crore people have been vaccinated in the country till date, he added. He urged all the people to get vaccinated at the earliest to prevent the dreaded disease.

He also stated that lakhs of people have benefited from the welfare schemes implemented by the Central and the state government. More than 8 lakh people have got PMJAY and CMHT cards to get cashless medical treatment in hospitals. He added that more than 50,000 individuals have benefited from PMJAY and CMHT in the state.

He assured that roadways connecting Sanjenbam to Yorbung  and Napetpali to Andro Khoibu would be repaired and blacktopped soon. The construction of Community Health Centre (CHC), Napetpali would also be completed soon, he added. He further directed the officials concerned to initiate the re-functioning of SDO, BDO,sub-registrar offices at Sawombung.

Works Minister Th Biswajit said that with the installation of a BJP led government in the state, there is peace and development. The aspirations and dreams of the common people have been fulfilled by the government, he added. He maintained that the government has initiated and implemented various welfare schemes for the welfare of the people.

“Considering the sentiments of the people and the selfless sacrifices of our forefathers in the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also renamed Mt Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Islands into Mt Manipur recently.

The long due demand of the people of the State for the implementation of Inner Line Permit has been approved by the Union government in 2019,” he added.

During the programme, the CM distributed assistances under various schemes including smartphones under CM e-Support Scheme, textbooks, uniforms, sports equipments under Education department, Manipur Start Up Scheme, Cards under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT), Widows’ Pension Scheme, Pension, aid and appliances for physically challenged, Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) among others.

Minister for Education S Rajen Singh; minister for TA and H,Vungzagin Valte; minister for Agriculture O Lukhoi; MP Rajya Sabha Maharajah Leishemba Sanajaoba; advisor to CM Th Shyamkumar; MLAs Y Erabot and N Indrajit; Adhyaksha Imphal East Zilla Parishad, P Bimola; chief secretary Rajesh Kumar; additional chief secretaries, commissioners and other top civil and police officials were present during the function.
