Police commemoration day observed

The names of 188 Police personnel from all parts of the country who attained martyrdom during the period from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023 were read out.

Police Commemoration Day was on Saturday observed at the Manipur Police Memorial, 1st Manipur Rifles Battalion to honour and remember the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The names of 188 Police personnel from all parts of the country who attained martyrdom during the period from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023 were read out.

Led by the Director General of Police, Manipur Shri Rajiv Singh, officers and personnel of Manipur Police department placed wreaths at the memorial stone.

A commemoration parade followed by a two-minute silence was also observed to honour the martyred police personnel. The Police Commemoration Day was also observed across all the District Police and Battalions in both hill and valley districts.

Our Thoubal correspondent added that Thoubal district Police also observed Police Commemoration Day at Thoubal district Police Headquarter by paying floral tributes and also organised a voluntary blood donation camp on Saturday.

District Police Thoubal by joining hands with the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Thoubal district branch, department of Transfusion Medicine RIMS and Blood Centre and Transfusion Unit, District Hospital Thoubal, Khangabok organised a blood donation camp during the programme.

SP Thoubal Sachidananda Soibam, MPS, Additional SP (ops) Thoubal O Wangkhomba, MPS, Additional SP (LO) Thoubal Suraj, MPS, SDPO Thoubal, SDPO Yairipok, and other police officials led by 3rd IRB Commandment Sarangthem Hemanta, MPS paid floral tributes to 181 police personnel including 24 from Thoubal district.

Thoubal SP Sachidananda Soibam presented gifts to the family members of the deceased 24 police personnel. It may be mentioned that two of the deceased police personnel died during the ongoing ethnic violence.
