The Manipur State Committee for Democratic Bharatiya Samaj Party (MSC-DBSP) on Wednesday decried Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s refusal to meet the MLAs and ministers of Manipur who are camped in the National Capital and instead leaving for a foreign trip without uttering a word on the prevailing ethnic violence engulfing Manipur.
The party, in a release, expressed discontentment at the Prime Minister for remaining silent over the chaos and bloodshed in the state and asserted that the same indicates that the union government is not concerned enough for the integrity of the state or the prevailing unrest. It said that the Prime Minister’s silence has alienated Manipur, which is a part of India.
It also lamented the disunity among the three delegations of politicians from the state, two from the ruling Party and one from the state opposition party who went to the National Capital in raising the issue. It also stressed the need for all to set aside political differences and work unitedly to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the state.
It further expressed grief over the relentless terror attacks carried out by armed Kuki militants against innocent civilians. It maintained that the Union government has the power to easily restrain the militants in a small state like Manipur, all the while pressing demand to scrap SoO truce with Kuki militants.
It further demanded the political parties concerned to take disciplinary actions against the 10 Kuki MLAs for demanding a separate administration in the state. It urged the Central and state government to commit to eliminating violence and bringing back peace and normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
