A three-day residential training workshop on hands-on-physics for Science Teachers of Hill Districts of Manipur was inaugurated at conference hall, Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak, Imphal on Monday.
The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) and Vigyan Prasar (VP), DST, Government of India, New Delhi.
On the occasion, commissioner (Science and Technology), government of Manipur, M Yaiskul Meitei said technology will follow when there is science. Students need to understand science in the easiest way so that they can apply it into their daily routine.
MASTEC director L Minaketan Singh said the main objective of the workshop is to impart training to science teachers of the hill districts in carrying out scientific experiments using readily available low cost materials so that they may, in turn, conduct the same activities at their schools while teaching science subject- physics to the students.
Scientist F Vigyan Prasar; DST, Government of India BK Tyagi; National Awardee Teacher, UP Manish Kumar and State Science Communicators Awardee N Shyamkishore Singh were attended as dignitaries.
