‘Pass motion to revoke SoO during Assembly’

Validity of the SoO agreement with Kuki groups and the authorities will end on February 29.

Thawai Mirel on Saturday demanded Manipur legislatures to unanimously pass a motion to discontinue SoO agreement with Kuki militants during the State Assembly session which will commence from February 28.

The group cautioned that uproar and agitations may spill out if authorities failed to pass the demand on the floor of the house.

It may be mentioned that the validity of the SoO agreement with Kuki groups and the authorities will also end on February 29.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi stated that the assembly was a crucial sitting to steer the trajectory of the crisis.

She further demanded the legislatures to also pass motion for NRC updation in the state and derive a concrete move to guard Manipur’s territorial boundary.

 “Crucial decisions to relocate the displaced people and usher peace in Manipur should be the main topics of the entire sitting,” she said.

Meanwhile, she lamented over the unfortunate incidents which took place on Friday and maintained that such reckless actions during the unrest deters the zeal of the entire people. She further appealed to the authorities concerned to prevent such incidents and cautioned that intense stir would be inevitable if the legislatures failed to pass the demands mentioned.
