Pan India legal awareness campaign in Manipur ends

District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong organised a mass rally marking the final day of the campaign starting from District Court Complex, Tamenglong.

The two-week long Pan India campaign for bridging the gap between the institution and the underprivileged by spreading legal awareness and ensuring delivery of legal entitlements to eligible beneficiaries ended on Sunday with various programmes at different districts of Manipur.

The campaign was launched by the chief justice of India on October 30, 2022.

District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong organised a mass rally marking the final day of the campaign starting from District Court Complex, Tamenglong. The rally was conducted under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge, Tamenglong cum chairman, DLSA Tamenglong, N Rajnikanta Singh. It was sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.

DLSA Tamenglong secretary, Laishram Rina Devi; advocate AG Chingkhiugong; advocate Daniel P Kamsuan, police personnel of Tamenglong Police Station; court and DLSA staffs and para legal volunteers of Legal Aid Clinic, Tamenglong participated in the rally.

District Legal Services Authority, Imphal East under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority organized a Nokphade Play titled “Eikhoi Khangminnasi” at Lamlong Bazar, Imphal East.

The programme was attended by RK Memcha, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal East cum chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Imphal East; Ojesh Mutum, member secretary of MASLSA; N Lanleima, Presiding Officer Revenue Tribunal and MACT; Arshad Saeed Shah, secretary District Legal Services Authority; RK Tejbir, Sub-Division Police Officer, Porompat; Ng Jadumani, Officer-in-Charge, Porompat PS and Thoudam Ruhinikumar, producer and director, Manipuri Comedy Nokphade.

The Nokphade play was performed by eminent Nokphade artists of the state and was aimed at spreading legal awareness through comedy. The play spread awareness about Child Marriage, Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO, Child Labour and rights of person before and under arrest, besides spreading laughter among the audience.

Pamphlets regarding rights of persons arrested, eligibility for legal aid, lok adalat, etc. were also disturbed in and around Lamlong Bazar and the audiences of the play.

District Legal Service Authority, Imphal West also conducted Nokphade street play at Ema Keithel.
District Legal Service Authority, Senapati also organised a spot essay competition for students of class 8-10 of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts.
