Opium seized, two women arrested in Churachandpur

Two mobile phones were seized from the possession of the two arrested women in Churachandpur.

Two women drug peddlers were arrested while one kg of opium was seized from their possession at Churachandpur Mandop Leikai, Churachandpur district by Narcotic Cell, Imphal East at around 3.15 pm on Thursday.

The arrested women were identified as one Hoinu Zou, 27, wife of Minthang Zou alias Thangboi Zou and Ngailun Zou, 27, wife of Ashong Kom. Both are from Manyang Veng, Churachandpur district.

Police reported that based on a tip-off, three teams of Narcotic Cell, Imphal East led by officer-in-charge of the narcotic cell, inspector Kh Devkumar Singh assisted by sub-inspector T Lenin Sharma, including women constable and volunteers of Young Athletic Development Association (YADA), Khergao detained the two women while they were coming in a two wheeler (TVS NTorq) without registration number.

During inspection, one kg of opium was detected and they were arrested on the spot. Two mobile phones were also seized from their possession.

The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Churachandpur district police for further necessary legal action.
