One arrested, 3.046 kg of suspected brown sugar seized in Kangpokpi

A police team arrested a drug peddler in possession of 3.046 kg of suspected brown sugar while carrying out intensive frisking and checking at Saikul village, Kangpokpi district.

As a part of the ongoing intensive drive against illicit drug trafficking in Manipur, a combined team of Saikul police led by SI Seiginlen Kipgen and 22 AR COB Saikul led by Major Bhopesh Sharma arrested a drug peddler on December 7, at around 5.30 pm.

The accused was identified as 32-year-old Ngamlenthang Khongsai, son of Chingjang Khongsai from Maojang village, Kangpokpi district.

The police said the team arrested the peddler in possession of 3.046 kg of suspected brown sugar while carrying out intensive frisking and checking at Saikul village near a water supply.

The drug peddler came on a scooter (NTORQ 125, Red and Black in colour) with no registration number, police said. 

The rider admitted himself to be a drug peddler transporting illegal drugs from Maojang village to Imphal along Saikul to Imphal road.

The drugs were seized from his possession in the presence of the executive magistrate by observing all formalities.
