In a release, the Nupi Marup questioned why the BJP government left out the hills district while withdrawing the draconian AFSPA from the valley districts, despite BJP leader Amit Shah’s claim that the law and order in the state has improved after the BJP’s rule.

Recalling BJP state president A Sharda’s statement that the relationship between the hills and valley has improved, it added that the contentious law poses a threat to the same relationship.

It mentioned that many underground groups have been under Suspense of Operation (SoO) by the Central government, including the NSCN (I-M) which had been under ceasefire and discussing a ‘Framework Agreement’ with the Central government.
