NPF, BJP candidates fil nomination in Tamei

Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai, who is also president of NPF Manipur state unit, told the media that NPF will contest in 10 assembly constituencies.

Two candidates, state Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai of the NPF and BJP candidate Wilubou Newmai filed their nomination papers before the returning officer Ningreingam Leisan in Tamei assembly constituency on Tuesday.

Minister Awangbow Newmai was accompanied by ADC Tamenglong caretaker chairman Namsinrei Panmei and chief agent Micah Panmei and his advocate Bisheshwari Devi.

Newmai, who is also president of NPF Manipur state unit, told the media that NPF will contest in 10 assembly constituencies. He said the BJP and the NPF have been a good coalition partner and ran the government successfully for the last five years, during which lots of changes took place.

“After election we will see. NPF is a principal based party; we will see what the people want,” he added.
