Responding to the starred questions of MLA Joykishan, Manipur Textiles, Commerce and Industries Minister Nemcha Kipgen informed the House that no stone crushers are permitted/licensed to function in paddy land.
MLA Joykishan was questioning the rules and regulations for issuing permit or license to stone crushers and the numbers of stone crushers in Imphal West.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that the permit/license for stone crushers is issued under ‘The Manipur Factories Rules, 2021’. There are 14 stone crushers registered in Imphal West district with the directorate of TC&I under Factories Act, 1948 and Manipur Factories Rules, 2021, she added.
While, responding to Kshetrigao MLA Noorul Hassan, the Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister Th Biswajit informed the House that there is no forest village in the Nongmaiching Reserve Forest and that there is no Reserve Forest by the name of Leimaching Reserve Forest.
The minister also said that construction of religious and memorial structures in Reserved Forest areas are not allowed without the prior forest clearance from the Central Government under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 after promulgation of the Act from October 25, 1980.
“Considering the social sentiments of the people the structure related to religion cannot be evicted”, the minister said, adding that Robinhood’s crematory located at Lamjing Meira Ching cannot be evicted due to social sentiment. However, other things taken up under reserved forest action will be taken up.
