No salary for colleges failing to score minimum NAAC credit point: Minister Rajen

The Manipur Education Department will issue notice to colleges failing to score the minimum credit point of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Manipur Education Minister S Rajen Singh has said that colleges in the state should work to get minimum credit score of 2.5 of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Salaries for the staffs of those colleges failing to score the minimum credit point may be held up. The Department of Education (U) will issue a notice in this regard, he added.

Rajen was speaking as chief guest on the occasion of the closing function of the DM College Week Celebration, 2021. He said that education is one of the most important sectors of the society which needs to be prioritised.

Rajen maintained that National Education Policy, NEP, 2020 has been introduced to improve the education sector of the country. State level task force has also been constituted for successful implementation of the policy in the state.

A grand seminar has also been organised at City Convention Centre. District and College level awareness programmes on NEP are also being organised. Foundation, vocational and professional courses are included in the fold of NEP 2020, he maintained.

Speaking at the occasion as chairperson, principal D.M. College of Science M Bhumeshwari Devi said that the staffs and teachers of the college is working to get the credit score of NAAC at the maximum. She said that there are deficits in many areas of the college which need immediate attention of the government. She also explained about the rich manpower resources of the D.M. University.

Minister also distributed certificates and trophies to those meritorious students of the college who have shown their outstanding performances during the College Week celebration.

Rajen also inaugurated One-Day Sensitisation Programme on National Education Policy at United College Chandel.
