The Communist Party of India, Imphal East on Saturday observed the 96th foundation day of the party at Irabot Memorial Park, Chalou, Imphal East.
State unit CPI secretary L Sotinkumar during the occasion stressed on the need to intensify the struggle for easing the sufferings of the farmers and labourers, said a release issued by state unit CPI.
Sotinkumar stated that Manipur is remaining as an entity because of the introduction of Communism by Irabot. The party was formed by communists who struggled for India’s independence in 1925 at Kanpur, it said.
The release stated that CPI national executive member M Nara also called for strengthening the party whose members stick to their ideology against politicians who leap from one party to another.
State secretariat member Athokpam Lala and state assistant secretary M Joykumar were also present during the occasion, it added.
