A national SC-ST Hub (NSSH) mega conclave will be held on September 2 in Churachandpur district to promote entrepreneurship and make development reach across all sections of society, especially the marginalised groups, including SC/ST entrepreneurs.

Speaking in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club on Wednesday, NSSH general manager (senior grade), Delhi head office KK Sharma said that the aim of the MSME- NSSH conclave is to provide opportunity to develop coherence with state government and collaborate with National SC-ST Hub for achievement of higher goals.

It is also focused on providing professional support to the SC/ST enterprises, thereby enabling them to effectively participate in the public procurement process, he mentioned. The purpose of the hub is to encourage participation of district SC and ST people. The hub also aims to work towards the development of new entrepreneurs, he added.

He mentioned that the conclave is organised by the ministry of MSME to spread awareness of the NSSH schemes and other schemes of the ministry. It would also provide an opportunity to interact with aspiring SC/ST entrepreneurs, CPSEs, industry associations, lending institutions to enhance participation of SC/ST MSEs in public procurement, he added.

Explaining more about the scheme, he said that the MSME sector plays a significant role in terms of job creation and improving livelihood. Currently, it consists of over 6 crore units employing over 11 crore people, contributing significantly to economic growth with over 30 percent of contribution to GDP and over 49 percent of overall exports from India.

Under the scheme, 356 beneficiaries were benefited by SC/ST in Manipur, he said. For inclusive growth, the ministry of MSME implements the National SC/ST Hub scheme with an objective of creating an ecosystem for SC/ST and help them participate in the public procurement process to reach at least 4 per cent.

MoMSME is consistently working to empower MSMEs for sustainable growth and to become compatible in the global value chain, he said.  State level conclaves will help the SC/ST MSMEs to expand their horizons by incorporating new ideas as they become aware of the various interventions given by the government, he added.
