Lok Sabha MP outer Manipur Lorho S Pfoze conveyed a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Tamenglong and Noney district at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal on Thursday.
During the meeting, he reviewed and deliberated the progress of the various schemes and programmes under the centrally sponsored schemes for the year 2020-2021, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
Speaking at the review meeting, DC of Tamenglong Pawan Yadav stated that the main purpose for holding this DISHA meeting is to analyse and see the work progress of what the government officials are undertaking in Tamenglong and Noney district.
During the review meeting, deputy commissioner of Tamenglong also shared some grievances related with the roads, power and communication to MP Lorho S Pfoze.
Transaction of money related with the MGNERGS and PMAY-G and shortages of Banks in Khoupum, Nungba and Tousem was also briefly discussed in the review meeting.
In the education sector, Lorho S Pfoze stressed the importance of education and the role of teachers in nation building. He also urged the education officials of Tamenglong and Noney district to check and stop the teachers' substitute culture which is practising so that the children get the best education out of it.
Looking at the presentation of the Rural Engineering Department (RED), the road construction undertaken under PMGSY, he found unsatisfied with the quality and time bound of work. He also asked the RED official to take a keen interest in building a good quality of roads and to complete the work projects in time.
A brief interaction was also discussed with the social welfare department in regard with the payment and non-payment of beneficiaries for the old age, widow and differently-abled persons of Tamenglong and Noney district. Social welfare officer also highlighted the difficulties faced by the department in identifying the beneficiaries under various social welfare schemes.
Health department also highlighted various achievements and the various work as well as outreach programmes taken up in different parts of the health sub centre and in the far flung village of Tamenglong district. Lack of equipment and frequent transfer of doctors is the main highlights of this review meeting.
The main agenda which was discussed briefly are the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme MGNERGS, Pradhan Mantri Awaaz Yojana- Gramin PMAY-G, Education/Samagra Mid Day Meal Scheme MDM, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana PMGSY, , Integrated Child Development Scheme ICDS, National Social Assistance Program NSAP, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana RSVY, Power Department MSPDCl, NRDWP, Jal Jeevan Mission and SBM, National Health Mission, National Food Security/PMUY, and Minor irrigation.
Shortage of staff and vehicles and accommodation problems were highlighted by most of the official department during the review meeting.
Due to the landslides in Tupul, the Tamenglong MLA, Tamei Tousem MLA, Nungba MLA and DC of Noney could not attend the DISHA meeting.
