MNSU draws attention to complete road construction from Katang to Magulong

The road from Katang to Magulong has a total distance of 12.20 km and the commencement of work should have begun on March 13, 2019 and completed by September 12, 2020, a release stated.

The Magulong Na Students' Union (MNSU) expressed its grievances and dissatisfaction over the lackadaisical attitude on the execution of road construction project (black topping) from Katang to Magulong under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

A release by MNSU stated that the student body has been a keen observer for over two years and noticed the road to be in a dilapidated condition till today. The road from Katang to Magulong has a total distance of 12.20 km and the commencement of work should have begun on March 13, 2019 and completed by September 12, 2020. The maintenance should have begun by September 13, 2020 and continued till September 12, 2025.

Under this project, total number of culverts to be constructed is 12 and proper drainage throughout the road, typical cross section of the road among others, it added.

It stated that the road so far has been executed with only two culverts out of 12 and two retaining walls out of eight. The road surface work executed so far are sub-standard and in deplorable state where even four-by-four wheelers can hardly ply over.

The project requires immense attention by the work in-charge team to ensure quality of work and its completion in time, it added.

Citing the ground reality, the student body expressed its dissatisfaction and anticipated immediate attention to realise the actual progress at the earliest. The road is the life-line of the village populace without which their life is affecting immeasurably on a daily basis, it added.

The people of Magulong village have been giving utmost support and cooperation to the authority concerned throughout the entire time of work execution and further ensured profound support in the future, the release stated while drawing the attention of the authority concerned  in this regard.
