Miscreants loot gold worth Rs 40 lakh

Armed unknown miscreants attacked and looted one Naorem Krishnadas of Kakching Ningthou Leikai on Saturday around 6.30 pm.

Ideal Pioneers Club, people of Kakching, including Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, staged a sit in protest at Kakching Bazar condemning the attack and looting of gold worth Rs 40 lakh carried out by armed unknown miscreants on one Naorem Krishnadas of Kakching Ningthou Leikai on Saturday around 6.30 pm.

Narrating the incident Ruhidasna, younger brother of the victim who was also present during the attack said that he along with his two brothers and a friend who were on their way to Kakching along Imphal Moreh road NH 39 from their jewellery store in Imphal Wahengbam Leikai at around 5.30 pm were stopped by armed miscreants who came on a four wheeler at Waithou area.

“We were forced out of our vehicle by three arms miscreants and checked our vehicle. My brother Krishnadas and two of the armed miscreants got into our vehicle and three of us along with one armed miscreant got into their vehicle and took a U-turn and were on our way to Imphal again,” Ruhidasana said.

He further narrated, “The vehicle which my brother Krishnadas in stopped near Canchipur Catholic school, Imphal west and our vehicle stopped a little further from the other vehicle.

After sometime the three miscreants came hurriedly and asked us to come out of their vehicle in which we were and they drove off in their vehicle. We went in search of our brother as the miscreants were acting suspiciously and later found out from the nearby localities that my brother had been shot.”

He added that police have already taken Krishnadas to RIMS and is undergoing treatment at Shija hospital after being referred from RIMS.

People who took part in the protest strongly condemned the incident and demanded the government to award befitting punishment to the miscreants at the earliest. A joint action committee has also been formed and will also submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar. Various placards were displayed during the protest.
