Miscreants allegedly left a hand grenade at the gate of one intending candidate Md Islaouddin alias MI Khan, 56, son of Md Jamalluddin Khan at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East around 6 am on Monday.  

The bomb was put in a polythene bag which was left hanging at the gate of the said person, as per sources. A note with the warning “MI Khan, you cannot contest the upcoming general election, 2022. This is the first and final warning. You won’t be spared the next time” was also found in the bag.

The bomb was collected by a team of Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Squad and safely detonated at Awa Ching Water Supply at Keirao.
