Miscreants attempt to torch shop run by murder accused in Imphal East

Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a shop at Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, Imphal East at around 5.10 pm Tuesday.

Miscreants tried to torch a shop by using a petrol bomb at Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, Imphal East at around 5.10 pm Tuesday.

The miscreants hurled the petrol bomb (plastic bottle) at the shop which sells wooden planks, but locals of the area extinguished the fire in time. Some parts of the shop were damaged in the incident. No untoward incidents occurred following the incident.

Police reported that the shop is owned by one Khangembam Devajanta alias Bobby, 48, son of Kh Nabakanta Singh of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, Imphal East. It is also reported that Devakanta is the accused in the alleged murder of Salam Ibetombi of Singjamei Wangma Beigyabati Leikai, Imphal East.

Ibetombi died on December 18 after being hit by a suspected stray bullet fired by Devakanta while celebrating FIFA World Cup football final match.
