Miscreants attempt to torch DTO office in Churachandpur

Churachandpur police said the miscreant collected some old, non-relevant documents which were kept in a wooden almirah at the corridor and burnt them down at the entrance of the DTO office.

Miscreants attempted to torch the office building of District Transport Office (DTO) Churachandpur located at Bijang around 1 am of Friday after failing to forcibly open the document store room where important vehicle records are kept.

Churachandpur police said that the miscreant, however, collected some old, non-relevant documents which were kept in a wooden almirah at the corridor and burnt them down at the entrance of the DTO office.

The fire was noticed by the night Police Patrol team which extinguished it with collaboration from the Churachandpur Fire department.

On initial inspection, only the wooden (mesh) door, one revolving chair and the old documents kept openly were only damaged by the fire, as per the police.

A case under FIR No 124(08)2022 CCP PS U/S 436/427/120-B / 34 IPC has been registered against the culprits for investigation.  A mobile forensic team took stock of the situation, and the available CCTV footage are being collected to identify the culprits with further investigations.
