Such repeated attacks on media fraternity with a motive to harm those victims is indeed “concerning and unacceptable”, said MHJU in a release.

It also stated that MHJU stands in solidarity with those victims and also endorsed the statements of EGM and AMWJU regarding the said unfortunate incident which happened on a broad daylight along a busy Airport road.

Timely action against the perpetrators will repose faith in the government’s assurance to protect the media from similar incidents which has increased in recent years, the release mentioned.

The media fraternity in Manipur despite its best efforts and sacrifices to provide 24x7 services has been faced with bomb attacks, intimidation, threats and harrassments, it stated, adding it is time the government seriously consider the worrying trend on attacks of media fraternity to curb such unwanted incidents in the future.
