The Manipur Hills Journalists’ Union (MHJU) on Tuesday stated that it vehemently condemns the assault on journalist Elangbam Rameshwor, Thoubal correspondent for Naharolgi Thoudang on Sunday by miscreants.
The media fraternity is shocked and pained to witness such an act of frequently attacking the journalist and demand immediate justice to the victim, MHJU stated in a release.
MHJU appealed to the state government to book those involved and provide assistance to the victim who has to be treated medically, it stated.

The authorities concerned are urged to take up the matter seriously and book those culprits behind the attack on the scribe and take immediate necessary action urgently, it further stated, adding, “It is disheartening to note that journalists in their line of duty are not safe and frequently harmed”.
The MHJU, while expressing solidarity with Elangbam Rameshwor and his family members, also extended moral support to Naharolgi Thoudang newspaper, it added.
