Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Ukhrul District has urged the state government to fulfil the demand of the All Manipur Hill Districts MGNREGS Employees’ Association (AMHDMEA).
KSO said that the AMHDMEA has been demanding regularisation of MGNREGS employees’ service in hill districts but the state government has never looked into the matter despite being appealed repeatedly. The inaction and delay on the part of the government has infuriated the hill districts’ MGNREGS employees leading to serve a deadline to the state government, it added.
The students’ organisation shall continue to give its support to AMHDMEA in their pursuance to achieve their demand, said KSO.
It also mentioned that five years have passed since the state government regularised the valley districts’ MGNREGS employees but so far no process of regularisation of the same service has been initiated in respect of the hill districts’ employees.
Such discriminatory act of the state government can facilitate trust deficit which in turn can seriously impair hill-valley relations, it stated.
The student body also said that the hill districts’ MGNREGS employees had been suffering for long and they equally deserve regularisation of their service as it was done for valley employees.
KSO has urged the state government to fulfil the demand of the hill districts’ MGNREGS employees on grounds of their long suffering so that the much quoted slogan ‘Chingtam Amatani’ happens into reality.
