Residents of Pangantabi staged a sit-in at the area on Friday chanting the slogan ‘ST Status for Meetei-The Only way Forward’ among various others.
The protest was jointly organised by Pangantabigi Social Development & Sporting Club (SDSC), South Eastern Manipur Development Organization (SEMDO), Meirapaibi pangantabi and WMC Manipur Unit, stated a release.
Taking part in the protest, meira paibis, leaders and members of SDSC, SEMDO and WMC Manipur State Unit chanted slogans like ‘Delaying ST is denying ST; All MLAs say yes for ST; CM Biren delaying Meetei ST only for his chair; CM Biren can’t compromise our future for his personal interest’ etc., it stated.
They also raised slogans regarding 2026 delimitation, NRC, Border Fencing, ILP etc, it added.
