The Manipur government has relaxed the curfew timing from 5 am to 8 pm for Imphal East and Imphal West districts on Sunday, June 11.

The district magistrates of Imphal East and Imphal West notified on Saturday, stated that the curfew has been relaxed in the two valley districts to enable the general public to buy essential items, including food and medicines.

Imphal East district magistrate Khumanthem Diana Devi notified that all persons belonging to essential services such as health, PHED, power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), Municipal officials/staff, media personnel and  functioning of courts will be exempted from the further imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation.

Imphal West district magistrate N Johnson Meetei Th Kirankumar on Saturday notified that curfew has been lifted for the district from 5 am to 8 pm on Sunday, but it prohibits gathering of people for any other purposes other than procurement of essential items, including food and medicine.

All persons belonging to essential services such as the Health, PHED, Municipal officials, power staff, media personnel and functioning of courts shall be exempted from further imposition of curfew, the notification issued by the district magistrates added.

In Kangpokpi district, curfew has been lifted from 5 am to 3 pm. All existing security measures put in place will continue to remain enforced during the relaxation, district magistrate Mahesh Chaudhari stated.
