Unity Khurai Meira Lup has called for a 12-hour bandh in Khurai area on Thursday, condemning the clarification of local clubs of Sabungkhok, Imphal East that they were not involved during the assault of two women on the charge of being informer of a community on Friday and for sidelining the incident as carried out by an irate mob.
The bandh will be effective from 6 am to 6 pm.
One of the Meira Paibis of Unity Khurai Meira Lup, Ngangom ongbi Ibemcha, told media at Khurai that on Friday last week, an unwanted incident occurred at Sabungkhok wherein women Meira Paibis were assaulted on suspicion of being informer of a community.
She said the two victims are not informers but they had gone to provide necessary assistance in connection with the ongoing crisis. Even a huge mob gathered to attack the residence of minister L Susindro on the same night who rescued the two victims from the spot. The mob also attacked the residence of the two victims without clarifying any fact, she added.
Ibemcha said the authority concerned should clarify immediately regarding the incident and they cannot sideline the incident by the irate mob.
