Manipur: Three jailed in connection with killing disabled man

Rishikanta beat Ingocha badly since he was handicapped and the whole incident took place in front of co-accused Robert and Rajen, and they did not give any alarm to the locality to seek help.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on Tuesday remanded three accused persons in judicial custody for 15-day till March 26, in connection with killing of a disabled man on March 6.

The three are identified as Koijam Rishikanta Meitei, 49, son of K Imo Meitei of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai, Imphal West; Pukhrambam Robert, 44, son of P Manao of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai and Longjam Rajen Meitei, 62, son of (L) L Kala Meitei of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai.

On March 6, all three accused persons had lunch at a place and went to the house of the victim, Nongthombam Ingocha to play cards as usual.

On reaching his house, they saw him sleeping and Rishikanta pulled the blanket used by Ingocha. A heated argument between Rishikanta and Ingocha resulted and escalated into a fight at length.

Rishikanta beat Ingocha badly since he was handicapped and the whole incident took place in front of co-accused Robert and Rajen, and they did not give any alarm to the locality to seek help.

During police interrogation, it was also disclosed that Rishikanta and Ingocha used to quarrel while playing cards and Rishikanta always beat Ingocha.

Rishikanta surrendered himself to the police after hearing information that Ingocha died.

The court after hearing submission observed that a prima facie evidence is well established against the accused persons for house trespass, murder the handicapped Ningombam Ingocha mercilessly with criminal conspiracy.

The court remanded them into judicial custody for 15 days.
