Manipur secretariat employees threaten to cease work

The Manipur Secretariat Services’ Association demanded to immediately discontinue the engagement/re-engagement of retired employees and expedite the whole promotion process to immediately fill-up all vacant posts, among other demands.

The Manipur Secretariat Services’ Association (MSSA) on Wednesday threatened to launch a cease work strike if the government fails to fulfil their demands, including the immediate discontinuation of engaging/ re-engaging retired employees, by September 5.

A letter addressed to the state chief secretary, signed by MSSA general secretary S Rabi Singh mentioned that the decision was taken during an executive committee meeting on Tuesday.

The association issued a nine-point demand which included cancellation of the order number ESTT-201/148/2020-GAD-GAD, dated August 2 about the transfer/ utilisation of secretariat assistant (GAD) M Romen Singh to Manipur Bhawan, Kolkata.

It demanded a grade pay at the rate Rs 1,800 in respect to group-D secretariat employees as well as a grade pay in respect of the post of caretaker at the rate Rs 4,200.

It also demanded the grade pay in respect of ASO/SO and PS at the rate Rs 4,600 and Rs 4,800 respectively. The association further demanded to issue orders on payment of DA at the rate of Central government with effect from January 2023 as agreed upon.

It demanded to immediately discontinue the engagement/re-engagement of retired employees and expedite the whole promotion process to immediately fill-up all vacant posts.

It demanded to immediately release/clear all the retirement benefits and pension and to scrap the National Pension Scheme (NPS).
