A woman was killed in a road mishap near Thoubal Wangma taba Ima Panthoibi temple under Thoubal police station along national highway 102 at around 9 am on Monday.

The victim has been identified as one Thongram Sunita Devi, 38, daughter of late Ibotombi from Thoubal Athokpam Awang leikai.

According to sources, Sunita was riding her activa scooter on her way to RUDA Academy Thoubal, where she is a teacher, when a Tata tipper truck (regd no. WB53B 2996) ran over her near Thoubal Wangma taba Ima Panthoibi temple along the Imphal Moreh NH102. She was killed on the spot, it added.

Sources said that the deceased was married to one Okram Sanatomba from Thoubal Nongangkhong Heibong Thabam leikai with whom she has a small daughter. After they divorced, she had been living at her maiden home.

After the police detained the suspected vehicle and filed a case, the body has been kept at JNIMS for post mortem.
