The police intervened and stopped the protesters in front of the Congress Bhavan. However, volunteers of the youth congress managed to march towards the governor’s entrance. Representatives of MPCC, Youth Congress and Mahila Congress were allowed to enter the governor’s bungalow but they returned without meeting the governor.

Briefing the media at Congress Bhavan after the protest, CLP leader O Ibobi said that more than 70 per cent of the country’s population are farmers and around 70 per cent GDP of the country is generated by the farmers. He said that developing the economy of the farmers would be beneficial for the country as a whole.

Ibobi said that the farmers have been demanding the Centre to repeal the farm laws, to pass the Minimum Support Price (MSP) assured by the Centre as an act in Parliament like National Food Security Act and to provide more subsidised rate of electricity bill for the farmers.
