Manipur Polls: Colour coded T-shirts launched for returning officers of Imphal West

Imphal West District election officer Th Kirankumar on Monday launched colour coded T-shirts for returning officers of Imphal West district to remove inconveniences caused to the public while dispersing all officers, agents and personnel.

Different colours of different assembly constituency wise have been given and even the vehicles will also display the colours of respective assembly constituencies. 

The T-shirts were launched on Monday at GM Hall during a joint interaction meeting with general observers, expenditure observer and police observer with candidates and election agents of Imphal West.

Kirankumar told the media that the purpose of the T-shirts is to maintain peaceful dispersal of officers. There are seven colours of respective seven returning officers of Imphal West district, he said.

He said that during dispersal of election officers, agents, personnel from DC Complex, Imphal West face trouble while searching for their respective returning officer team and vehicles. So, to maintain peaceful dispersal and for easy identification, the seven colours of seven returning officers are given and the vehicles will also display the respective colours, he added.

About 3,300 absentee voters have been listed for Imphal West district.  The postal ballot team will visit house-to-house from February 21 to 22 and the second round of visits will be held on February 25, he mentioned. 53 postal ballot teams have been constituted for visiting absentee voters, he said.

Concerning the previous issues that had taken place on postal ballots at Singjamei, he said that counting will be done in a different way this time.

He also informed that the police personnel who are on election duty and need postal ballot facility can apply and submit before February 20 to the returning officer concerned.

Concerning reports about proxies in postal ballots and gathering of all postal ballot voters to cast a specific candidate, a special observer team has been formed, he added.

The joint interaction meeting was attended by seven returning officers, polling officers, agents of Imphal West.
