An individual in possession of a large number of Spasmo Proxyvon (SP) Tablets was arrested while the tablets were seized by Thoubal district police on Tuesday. Two persons were also arrested with 25 grams of brown sugar on Monday.
As per police source, at around 11.30 am on Tuesday, on receipt of information regarding the movement of contraband items from Lilong to Mantripukhri area, a team of Manipur Police rushed towards Mantripukhri area in Imphal East.
During the search operation, one Md Ephammayum Ethem, 46, son of late Ephammayum Amo, a resident of Kwakta Charangpat and at present Mantripukhri Ahallup Kontha Khunou was found carrying a white plastic sack and was detained, the source continued.
The police team, after observing necessary formalities, searched the person and his belongings and found 1,1602 Spasmo Proxyvon (SP) tablets inside the sack, the source added.
The arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Heingang Police station for further necessary action, the source said.
Meanwhile, at around 11.30 pm on Monday, a team of Manipur police seized brown sugar from two individuals in the Usoipokpi area.
As per police source, the two individuals have been identified as Md Shahid Rahaman, 27, son of Md Abdul and Md Sajid Ahamad, 20, son of late Md Rashid Ahamad, both are residents of Lilong Usoipokpi Chingol, Thoubal district.
The source mentioned that they were detained during the course of routine frisking and checking on the NH 102 Highway at Usoipokpi as they were coming on a Yamaha FZ bearing registration number MN01 R9324, black in colour.
After observing necessary formalities, they were searched and two soap cases containing brown sugar were found from their possession, weighing approximately 25 grams in total, excluding the weight of the plastic soap cases, the source added.
The arrested individuals along with the seized items and the vehicle were handed over to Lilong Police Station, and a case has been registered for further necessary action, the source said.
